Blackle

I've started using this search engine called Blackle. It's basically the same thing as Google, though it's based off the fact that having a all black on your computer screen saves more energy than having all white. So using Blackle instead of Google saves energy. I still use google though, just Blackle is set as my home page instead of Google, so I'm still saving energy just by Blackle showing up on my web browser instead of Google.

What made me want to post this here is BLACK MARKET has black layout right? So theoretically does that mean having a black layout causes other people to save energy?

.Hack//Legend of the Twilight

A while ago (2 months ag0) I got .Hack//Legend of the Twilight. And I finally got around to watching all of the episodes to it. For those of you new to the .Hack (pronounced dot-hack). .Hack is an ongoing franchise that revolves around a fictional MMORPG known as "The World". .Hack has a complex story-line which spans to video-games, anime, manga, and even a few light novels. As I said, I just finished watching .hack//Legend of the Twilight. Legend of the Twilight actually is un-related to the main on-going .hack story-line (or so I'm told). The main reason I bought this anime was because I remembered watching it on [Adult Swim]. Though that was years ago and I only had a faint memory of the anime. This review right here pretty much sums up how I feels about this anime. The atwork in it is excellent, the action is pretty okay. But the characters were bad. I dunno, I guess I just didn't like the way the character Rena acts like, Mistral always blabbered about "rare items", I didn't see how Hotaru helped with anything in the story-line, as Nihon Review mentioned, most of the characters just seemed like a plot-device. Kite the protaganist was okay I guess, the only characters I actually liked we're Balmung, Sanjuro, Reiki and three other characters. Aside from the characters, the story-line was actually pretty good though. It's only after the sixth episode (out of twelve) that the story-line actually starts getting pretty good. The story starts to build up to what could have been a very good ending, and even raises a few questions about death. Though the ending was...okay. The ending could have been better in my opinion.

.Hack//Legend of the Twilight is a good anime. I'd call it above average, the only bad things I think of about the anime are the characters and the very ending of it. If you don't mind the annoying characters, I'd recommend it.

Ponyo

So I've recently seen three films in theaters. G.I. Joe, District 9... and Ponyo, Hayao Miyazaki's latest anime movie. For those of you who don't know, Hayao Miyazaki is one of the best anime writer/directors I know. He well known for his anime's such as Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. Princess Monoke and Spirited Away are masterpeices which had some great settings. Though I noticed that Ponyo has a much more...colorful and G-rated setting. It's even more colorful than My Neighbor Totoro, another film by Hayao Miyazaki. Ponyo is about a 5-year old boy Sôsuke, who while playing by the ocean, finds and befriends a goldfish which he names Ponyo. After spendig time with Sôsuke Ponyo decided that she wants to become a human, and turns herself into a human. Of course her father, the husband of the Goddess of Mercy, doesn't like this as it seriously threatens the balance of nature. The story-line in Ponyo wasn't as compelling as Hayao Miyazaki's other films. I doubt it was because of how colorful it was, rather just how the story progressed. Though overall the plot is pretty okay. No matter how colorful it was, and the artwork was still as beautiful as ever. If you're already a fan of Hayao Miyazaki's films, I would definitely recommend you seeing this film. Though if your new to Hayao Miyazaki, I guess this wouldn't be a bad start to his films. Though Princess Mononoke is in my opinion Hayao's best masterpeice ever, which you see either way.

Hell Yeah Magic Lovers

So while I'm in Carmel my brother made us play DOOM the boardgame. And playing DOOM the boardgame made my cousin Bryan want to start playing Magic: the gathering. So we went down and bought us a few decks (I actually didn't buy one since I didn't have any money. And I didn't want to borrow any more money from my brothers.) And then the next few days we've been just playing Magic and going back down. to the comic book stores and buying more and more cards. And now. Today after going to Chili's (*painful groan*) we went to Target to buy some more cards. Bryan bought three booster packs. And guess what. He got a mystic rare plainswalkers.

Yeah. Really.

Oh Yeah and I got a Laptop.

I shall tell a story that has haunted me for a while now. Luckily, now it is just a cheerful learning experience that I am no longer distressed about at all. Half a year ago, (probably longer), I decided to save up for a PS3. I get $15 a week for allowance (which is a lot compared to other peoples allowances, but $15 a week is a pretty fair amount for how much money everything costs nowadays.) And after a few months of saving up, I had $350. After goin through all this stress saving up and looking for a PS3 online, I realized I didn't want a PS3. At least not at the moment. It would have been pointless for me to have gotten it then, because I am a total RPG fan, and there are no RPG's for the PS3. So I eventually called off getting a PS3, and then just had $350 laying right in front of me. This money haunted me. So after the money depleted to $290, and I eventually decided I should use the money to get a laptop. There really isn't anything better I could spend the money on. I really needed a laptop to motivate me to do more writing, and work on Flash animation. With much help from my cousin Bryan, I ironically got this Onyx Blue Toshiba laptop, for $299. Which was actually bigger than my brother Brads laptop, when I wanted a laptop that was smaller and lighter than his.

Now I'll explain why I've been absent from the internet and such the past two or so weeks. I've been at Carmel at my uncles, who owns an RV park, and I've been working for him making money. The first week I was there, I made $75. And they gave me a TV and a PS2, to put in my room, for FREE. I needed a new PS2 so that I can play Metal Gear Solid (my old PS2 was a little messed up. I could still play games perfectly fine on it, but the disc tray was a little messed up, and the laser lens was messed up so I couldn't play PS1 games.). Then I went back home for a week and me and my brothers had a birthday party/sleepover with our friends. My birthday was on July 2nd, and the party was on the 25th (There was this yearly festival called Feast of the Lanterns, being held on the 25th, but we decided not to go since we didn't want to post-pone the party any further.) Anyways, we're now spending our 2nd week in Carmel. So far I've made $110. At home I have another...$415. I spent the $110, and borrowed $260 from my brothers to get this laptop. So once I pay my brothers back, I'll have something $150 left over, which I'll use to open up a checking account and get a debit card, so I can stop pestering my dad to use his credit card everytime I want to buy something online (and ever since I started collecting anime, I buy a lot stuff online.) Yeah, so I've been in Carmel, which why I haven't updated. But don't worry myto fans, On friday I am hopefully going to go back home for a day or two, say hi to Lucky-Ku (the poor dog, he hasn't seen me or my brothers for a whole week.)

And a note for Julion: Yes. I've gone to the dark side and gotten a PC.

Big O Season 1

Yeah, one of things I bought myself for my birthday (an early birthda present from our mom was $30 to spend online) was Season 1 to Big O. Don't be fooled by the covers "Complete Collection", this is only the first out of two seasons of Big O. Big O is one of the anime's I remember watching on [Adult Swim]. Other anime's I remember watching on [Adult Swim] include .Hack//Legend of the Twilight, Cowboy Bebop, Lupin the 3rd, Trigun, Fullmetal Alchemist, Fooly cooly etc. etc. well, only a few of those I'm actually buying right now though.

Anyways, Big O takes place in Paradigm city, where 40 years everybody lost their memory. Roger Smith is the main character of the story, and is a negotiator who pilots the megadues "Big O". The show was actually canceled in Japan after only the first season, due to low ratings or something. But then it aired on Cartoon Network...uh, [Adult swim], and was a major hit. It got so much fan letters saying to make another season, that Cartoon Network actually teamed up with the original Japanese producers and actually co-produced the second season. To tell the truth, I can see why Japan viewers didn't like the series. The first season of Big O is just random detective stories (I think they come together season 2 but I'm not sure). A lot of times while watching it now I thought "well there can't possibly be a mecha battle..." but in every episode there was a mecha battle with Big O and some giant monster or mecha (except for act 13, that has no mecha battle as it ends right aftr Big O and Roger come out from underground to battle the opposing threat). but of course that could be considered a good thing or a bad thing. All in all, Big O is a pretty important anime, as it does symbolize the first anime to be saved by an American audience. I would recommend it to anyone.
